Wordoku Rules

Wordoku Rules

Wordoku follows the classic Sudoku pattern. The only change is that the symbols are letters instead of numbers.

Rule profile

Board
A 9x9 grid divided into nine 3x3 boxes.
Symbols
Nine different uppercase letters replace the numbers 1 through 9.
Goal
Every row, column, and box uses every letter exactly once.
Best start
Choose Very Easy or Easy if letter Sudoku is new.

The basic rule

If a row already has W, you should not place another W in that same row. The same idea applies to each column and each outlined 3x3 box.

The letters do not need to spell a word while solving. Treat them as nine clear symbols with the same logic as classic Sudoku numbers.

  • Each row uses every letter once.
  • Each column uses every letter once.
  • Each 3x3 box uses every letter once.

How the live board helps

The selected letter is highlighted across the board, which helps older players scan matching letters without losing their place.

The letter pad shows how many times each letter has already been placed, and the Undo button stays available near the feedback message.

Practical Questions

Do the letters need to form a word?

No. In this version, the letters are the symbols used for solving. The rules are still row, column, and box uniqueness.

Can I type letters instead of tapping?

Yes. When the board is focused, matching letter keys can place the corresponding Wordoku letter.
