Why Medium is a separate PDF task

Medium Sudoku is not just a keyword swap from Easy. The user is choosing a different solving session: fewer starting numbers, a longer paper solve, and more reason to use pencil notes.

The print route already supports difficulty=medium, so the page can point to a real large print sheet rather than promising an unsupported file.

• Use Medium when Easy is too quick.
• Keep one puzzle per page when notes matter.
• Use the answer route only after solving or checking.

PDF and paper choices

One-up Medium PDFs are better for handwriting because Medium puzzles usually need more notes. Two-per-page is available, but it is a compact practice choice rather than the senior-friendly default.

US Letter and A4 remain print controls. They do not need separate keyword pages unless the product creates a new artifact.

The direct download uses the same generated board as the on-page print preview. That matters for helpers: the PDF file, the printed sheet, and the answer route share the selected difficulty, paper, format, and seed instead of creating unrelated puzzle versions.

Answer handling

The Medium answer route mirrors the difficulty and can mirror the selected print format. That keeps the PDF workflow honest: puzzle first, solution later.

For activity organizers, this also makes it possible to save the puzzle PDF and answer PDF as separate files.

What should wait

A larger Medium PDF book should wait until the site has a named pack with stable puzzle identity or a real book pipeline. The current page should not pretend to serve a commercial file catalog.

For now, the supported promise is Download PDF from the Medium print route. That is enough to answer the immediate task while keeping future pack and book URLs available for stronger product work.

This is also why Medium PDF stays separate from the generic PDF page. The difficulty changes the user's solving task, but paper size and answer inclusion remain controls on the utility route.
